Albany Moves Up to #2 After Win at Syracuse, Earns #AEMLAX Honors
BOSTON – Albany, which entered the week as the #4/3 team in the country, opened its 2018 season with high expectations and met them on Saturday, defeating #7/8 Syracuse, 15-3 in the Carrier Dome. It’s just the second-ever win for the Great Danes over the Orange.
With its win, Albany rose up to #2 in both national polls. Vermont continued its hot start to the season and improved to 4-0. The Catamounts entered the USILA Poll at #20 and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll at #17.

Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Tehoka Nanticoke, Albany – Fr., Attacker, Six Nations, Ontario
- Scored a five goals in his collegiate debut to lead #4/3 Albany to an impressive 15-3 win at #7/8 Syracuse Saturday.
- This is Nanticoke’s first career Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
J.D. Colarusso, Albany – Sr., Goalkeeper, Poughquag, N.Y.
- Stopped 10 of the 13 shots he saw to lead #4/3 Albany to a 15-3 thrashing of #7/8 Syracuse Saturday.
- The three goals were the fewest scored by Syracuse since 1991.
- This is Colarusso’s first #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of his career.
