Three Programs Earn Initial #AETF Weekly Awards

BOSTON – The 2018-19 track and field season began last weekend for nearly all America East programs. A handful of student-athletes competed in the Boston University Season Opener at the Track and Tennis Center, the site of the #AETF Championships. New Hampshire also swept its season-opening dual meet at Maine.
 
Here are the conference’s weekly award winners:
 
Female Track Performer of the Week
Shannon Murdock, New Hampshire – Sr., Distance, Exeter, N.H.
  • Currently holds the fastest mile time in the nation after winning the event at the Boston University Season Opener.
  • Murdock’s time of 4:47.77 is a new personal best.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Paul Hogan, UMass Lowell – Gr., Distance, Burlington, Mass.
  • Set a school record in the 5,000-meter run at the BU Season Opener.
  • His time of 13:53.57 also ranks fourth in the country.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Lynda Brundige, UAlbany – Jr., Jumps, Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Won the triple jump at the BU Season Opener.
  • Cleared 39’8.75” which ranks fourth nationally.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
David Carlson, UAlbany – Sr., Throws, Kingston, N.Y.
  • Won the weight throw with a personal-best mark at the BU Season Opener.
  • His throw of 64’5.25” currently ranks fifth in the nation.
