New Hampshire, UMBC Post #AEMSOC Semifinal Wins to Reach Title Game

For the third time in the last nine years, New Hampshire and UMBC will decide the America East men’s soccer title as both teams won championship semifinal contests on Wednesday evening. Second-seeded New Hampshire scored twice in the first half to down third-seeded UMass Lowell, 2-0, while fifth seeded UMBC got a second-half goal to beat top-seeded Stony Brook, 1-0.
 
UNH and UMBC will square off for the conference title on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at New Hampshire’s Wildcat Stadium. The game will air on ESPN3. It will be the seventh time in the last 10 seasons that the No. 2 and 5 seeds will play for the league title.
 
at New Hampshire 2, UMass Lowell 0
  • New Hampshire advanced to the title game for the first time since 2012 and the fifth time in league history.
  • Antonio Colacci gave UNH a 1-0 in the 22nd minute as he took a feed from Juan Velazquez and buried it in the back of the next.
  • The Wildcats benefited from an own goal in the 42nd minute to take a 2-0 advantage.
  • Despite allowing seven UMass Lowell shots in the second half, only one was on goal, and UNH hung on for a 2-0 victory.
UMBC 1, at Stony Brook 0
  • UMBC will play in its first #AEMSOC final since 2014 and its sixth all time.
  • After the two teams played a scoreless first half, Jordan Dove scored his first goal of the season in the 60th minute, which proved to be the game winner.
  • Quantrell Jones had to make just one save in net to earn the shutout win.
