Stony Brook Continues to Impress; Week #3 #AEHoops MBB Awards Announced
BOSTON – Stony Brook continued its impressive start to the season by posting its third true road win of the year Saturday as the Seawolves beat Rhode Island, 68-58. The win over the Rams, an NCAA tournament team last year, was Stony Brook’s fourth away from home this season placing it among just five other Division I teams to do so. The Seawolves’ 5-1 start is their first since the 2009-10 campaign.

Player of the Week
Andrew Garcia, Stony Brook – So., Guard, Harlem, N.Y.
- Averaged 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in 26 minutes per game off the bench to help Stony Brook go 2-0 last week.
- Had 14 points and six assists in Stony Brook’s upset win over Rhode Island Sunday.
- Recorded his first career double-double (20 points, 10 rebounds) Tuesday.
- This is Garcia’s first career #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Sam Sessoms, Binghamton, Fr., Guard, Philadelphia, Pa.
- Averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in a pair of games last week.
- Had 19 points and eight rebounds in a win over Sacred Heart Saturday.
- This is Sessoms’ second career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor (11/12).
