Maine, Stony Brook Pocket #AEHoops Weekly Awards
BOSTON – In the second week of the women’s #AEHoops season, UMBC improved to 6-0, the best start in program history. Phil Stern notched his 200th career win as head coach of the Retrievers on Friday. Stony Brook picked up its first wins of the season, defeating Hofstra and Manhattan. Maine defeated Bryant and was narrowly edged by #20 Duke 66-63 in Bangor.
The week ahead includes the Black Bears traveling to Wisconsin Tuesday to take on Green Bay and hosting Penn Sunday. Hartford hosts Harvard Wednesday and #5 Louisville on Saturday. Stony Brook travels to Penn State on Sunday.

Here are the conference’s weekly award winners:
Co-Player of the Week
Shania Johnson, Stony Brook – Sr., Guard, Frederick, Md.
- Compiled a stat line of 18.5 points per game, 8.5 assists per game and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2-0 week.
- Recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists against Hofstra.
- Finished with 23 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals at Manhattan.
- This is Johnson’s first Player of the Week award this season and third of her career.
Co-Player of the Week
Blanca Millan, Maine – Jr., Guard, Santiago de Compostela, Spain
- Averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 1-1 week.
- Millan scored 25 points on 50 percent shooting against #20 Duke and blocked a career-high three shots in win over Bryant.
- The junior shot 53 percent in the two games combined.
- This is Millan’s first Player of the Week award of the season and third of her career.
Rookie of the Week
Anastasia Warren, Stony Brook – Fr., Guard, Atlanta, Ga.
- Averaged 8.5 points on 50 percent shooting in 2-0 week for Seawolves.
- Scored 16 points in 22 minutes against Hofstra.
- Warren made seven of her eight field goal attempts against the Pride, including 2-3 from three-point range.
- This is Warren’s first career #AEHoops weekly award.
