UAlbany, UMass Lowell Win on Road to Reach #AEWSOC Championship Game 10/28/2018 7:04:04 PM For just the second time in league history and first time since 1996, the #3 and #4 seeds will meet for the #AEWSOC title as #3 UAlbany and #4 UMass Lowell both won semifinal contests on the road Sunday. The Great Danes beat #2 Hartford, 1-0, and the River Hawks knocked off #1 Stony Brook, 2-0. UAlbany and UMass Lowell will play for the crown on Sunday, Nov. 4 at UAlbany’s Casey Stadium at 1 p.m. The game will air on AmericaEast.TV. UMass Lowell 2, Stony Brook 0 UMass Lowell will make its first-ever championship game appearance. After a scoreless first half, Lily Fabian put UMass Lowell up 1-0 in the 70th minute. Katelyn Vieira iced the game with her score in the 88th minute to put the River Hawks up 2-0. Stony Brook, which was seeking its second-straight America East title, outshot UMass Lowell, 17-12, but River Hawk goalkeeper Julia Schneider stopped all eight shots she saw. UAlbany 1, Hartford 0 UAlbany is in the championship game for the third time in the last four years. Mariah Williams proved to be the difference once again, breaking a scoreless tie by sending home a rebound in the 79th minute. Williams’ goal was her league-leading 17th of the year. Andrea Leitner made three saves in net for the Great Danes, who have won five in a row and not allowed a goal in any of those games.
