New Hampshire, UMBC & Stony Brook Earn #AEVB Week 9 Awards

BOSTON – Stony Brook remains perfect in #AEVB league play. The Seawolves marked their 10th straight win of the season after Sunday’s win over Iona. New Hampshire and UMBC also picked up wins over the weekend. Three teams are tied for fourth place at 2-5 (Hartford, UMBC, Binghamton).

Co-Player of the Week
Gabri Olhava, New Hampshire – Sr., MB, Mount Prospect, IL
  • Averaged 5.66 kills per set in a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell.
  • Sits in third place in the league averaging 3.41 kills per set.
  • Tallied 17 kills on a .455 hitting percentage in a 1-0 week for New Hampshire.
  • This is Olhava’s third career #AEVB Player of the Week award.
Co-Player of the Week
Becca Elrod, UMBC – Soph., MB, Cary, IL
  • Registered a career-high 10 kills on a .692 hitting percentage in her second appearance of the season.
  • Recorded a career-high and league-beat 8 blocks in 1-0 week for UMBC.
  • Helped the Retrievers to their second win in the last three matches.
  • This is Elrod’s first career #AEVB Player of the Week award.
Setter of the Week
LeAnne Sakowicz, Stony Brook – Jr., Setter, Wauconda, IL.
  • Tallied 63 assists averaging 10.5 assists per set in a 2-0 week for Stony Brook.
  • Added 9 kills, 8 blocks and 3 service aces.
  • Led the Seawolves to a league-best .356 hitting percentage.
  • This is Sakowicz’s ninth career #AEVB Setter of the Week award.
Defensive Specialist of the Week
Emily Tanski, New Hampshire – Jr., DS, Plymouth, MI
  • Recorded a league-best 19 digs last week averaging 6.33 digs per set.
  • Helped hold UMass Lowell to a .156 hitting percentage including a .061 hitting % in set 2.
  • This is Tanski’s fourth #AEVB Defensive Specialist of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Paige Krenik, UMBC – Fr., OH., Foothill Ranch, CA.
  • Had a double-double 10 kills and 11 digs in UMBC’s 3-1 win over Binghamton.
  • Added 2 blocks and a service ace in 1-0 week for the Retrievers.
  • This is Krenik’s third #AEVB Rookie of the Week award of her career.
