Hartford, Stony Brook Share 2018 #AEWSOC Regular-Season Crown; Tourney Bracket Set

With the field for the 2018 America East Women’s Soccer Championship already known, the seeds and matchups for the tournament were decided today, the final day of the regular-season. Stony Brook and Hartford each earned a share of the #AEWSOC regular-season title while the Seawolves will be the tournament’s top seed as a result of their win over the Hawks on Thursday.
 
The final seeds for the 25th America East Women’s Soccer Championship are:
  1. Stony Brook
  2. Hartford
  3. UAlbany
  4. UMass Lowell
  5. Vermont
  6. New Hampshire
The Seawolves earned their first regular-season title since 2013 and just their second in program history with a 1-0 overtime win at UMass Lowell. Julie Johnstonbaugh’s extra-time score gave Stony Brook the #AEWSOC championship #1 seed for the first time in program history. The Seawolves will host the winner of #4 UMass Lowell and #5 Vermont in a semifinal contest Sunday, Oct. 28 at 12 p.m.
 
Hartford beat New Hampshire, 2-0, Sunday to earn a share of the regular-season title, its fourth in the last five years and a league-best 14th all-time. The Hawks will host the winner of #3 UAlbany and #6 New Hampshire in a semifinal contest Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

UAlbany beat Binghamton, 1-0, to earn the #3 seed, the fourth-straight year it has earned a top four seed. The Great Danes will host #6 New Hampshire in quarterfinal action on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
 
UMass Lowell will be making its first-ever championship appearance. The River Hawks will host #5 Vermont in a quarterfinal contest Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
 
The semifinal winners will face off for the 2018 conference title at the higher remaining seed on either Saturday, Nov. 3 or Sunday, Nov. 4. All tournament games will air on AmericaEast.TV.
