#AEFH Conference Play Gets Off to Hot Start; Week #6 Awards Announced

BOSTON – Six teams earned wins to open conference play last weekend, several of which came in thrilling fashion. New Hampshire pulled off an upset over #18 Maine in Durham on Friday. #18 Maine and #24 Albany battled into double overtime before the Black Bears scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute. #21 Stanford notched a pair of wins at home and began league play 1-0. Five conference games lie ahead this week.

Here are the conference’s weekly award winners:
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Corinne Zanolli, Stanford – So., Attacker, Newtown Square, Pa.
  • Totaled nine points in two Cardinal victories, both over division opponents.
  • Scored a hat trick in the conference opener against UC Davis Sunday.
  • Tallied a goal and an assist in win over Pacific.
  • This is Zanolli’s second #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week award of the season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Bing, Stanford – Jr., Goalkeeper, Houston, Texas
  • Made 12 total saves in 2-0 week for Stanford.
  • Shut out UC Davis, tallying six saves in the first league win of the season for the Cardinal.
  • Allowed just one goal in two games.
  • This is the second Defensive Player of the Week award of the season for Bing and fifth of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week
Mia Borley, Maine – Fr., Goalkeeper, Durham, England
  • Notched 10 saves in 1-1 week for #18 Maine.
  • Eight of her saves came in Maine’s double overtime win over then #22 Albany.
  • Borley allowed just one goal in the contest.
  • This is her second #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor.
