Hartford, Stony Brook, Vermont Secure #AEWSOC Tourney Bids as Regular Season Winds Down
BOSTON – Three teams (Hartford, Stony Brook and Vermont) secured #AEWSOC championship bids over the weekend as the regular season winds down. The three teams sit atop the conference standings with the Hawks in first place with 16 points and the Seawolves and Catamounts tied for second with 13 points.
UAlbany and UMass Lowell (10 points each) can secure championship bids with wins this week. New Hampshire (7), Binghamton (6) and Maine (6) are the other teams fighting for bids.
The 2018 #AEWSOC Championship bracket will be announced at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. Quarterfinal action takes place Thursday, Oct. 25 at the #4 and #5 seeds. The top two seeds host semifinal games on Sunday, Oct. 28 with the championship game on either Saturday, Nov. 3 or Sunday, Nov. 4.

Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Morrier, UMass Lowell – Sr., Forward, Plaistow, N.H.
- Scored four times in UMBC’s 5-2 win at UMBC Sunday.
- The four goals tied an America East single-game record for goals in a conference contest.
- Morrier is the third #AEWSOC player to score four goals in a league game and first since 2003.
- This is Morrier’s first career #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor. She was named Player of the Week on Oct. 9 last season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kacey Lambertson, Vermont – So., Goalkeeper, Matawan, N.J.
- Stopped seven of the eight shots she faced in a pair of wins for Vermont last week.
- Had three stops in a 2-0 win vs. UNH on Thursday and four saves in a 2-1 OT win vs. Maine Sunday.
- Saved seven shots against UMass Lowell and four against Stony Brook.
- This is Lambertson’s second #AEWSOC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season and of her career (9/10/18).
Rookie of the Week
Alyssa Oviedo, Vermont – Fr., Midfielder, Clifton Park, N.J.
- Scored the game winning goal in overtime of Vermont’s 2-1 win vs. Maine Sunday.
- The score was the first of her career and helped the Catamounts secure a postseason bid for fourth-straight year.
- This is Oveido’s first Rookie of the Week honor of the year.
