Hartford, Stony Brook Sit Atop #AEWSOC Standings, Week #7 Awards Handed Out

BOSTON – League play in women’s soccer is in full swing after most teams played two more games last week. Through three games, Hartford and Stony Brook sit tied atop the conference standings at 2-0-1. The Hawks are unbeaten in their last nine games overall (8-0-1) while the Seawolves are 5-1-1 in their last seven.

Here are the conference's week #7 award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Kaila Lozada, Hartford – Jr., Forward, Newington, Conn.
  • Scored three goals in a 1-0-1 week for Hartford.
  • Had the Hawks’ lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Vermont Thursday and then scored twice in a 4-1 victory over UMBC Sunday.
  • Lozada has four goals and an assist in three league games thus far.
  • This is Lozada’s third #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week award of the season (9/4, 9/24) and the third of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Erin Theiller, Binghamton – So., Defender, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
  • Played every minute in leading Binghamton’s defensive effort en route to shutout wins over UMBC and Maine last week.
  • Helped hold the two teams to just 14 total shots and only four on goal.
  • This is Theiller’s first career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Dunja Mostarac, UMass Lowell – Fr., Defender, Belgrade, Serbia
  • Factored in both of UMass Lowell’s goals in its 2-1 win over Albany Sunday.
  • Set up the River Hawks’ first goal and scored the game winner to break a 1-1 tie.
  • This is Mostarac’s first #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week award of her career.
