Three #AETF Programs Earn Weekly Awards as Season Resumes
BOSTON – Several #AETF teams resumed action this past weekend while UMBC kicked off their indoor season at the Bucknell Tri Meet. Binghamton competed in the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open which did not include team scoring. UMass Lowell placed third on the men’s side and fourth on the women’s side at the 48
th Dartmouth Relays.
Here are this week’s award winners:
Female Track Performer of the Week
Chelsea Owusu, UMass Lowell – Jr., Sprints, Worcester, Mass.
- Finished second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.85.
- She was also part of the winning 4x200m relay team.
- It is her first #AETF Female Track Performer award this season.
Male Track Performer of the Week
Brian Nelson, UMBC – So., Sprints, Upper Marlboro, Md.
- Won the 60m dash in a time of 6.90 at the Bucknell Tri Meet.
- Won the 300m in a time of 34.48.
- His time in the 60m ranks second in the conference this season.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Kerstin Darsney, UMass Lowell – Sr., Jumps, Rowley, Mass.
- Won the long jump and the triple jump at the 48th Dartmouth Relays.
- Her jump of 40’4.75” in the triple jump ranks 10th nationally.
- It is also the 7th best jump in school history.
Male Field Performer of the Week
Nick Villa, Binghamton – Sr., Vault, Whitestone, N.Y.
- Won the pole vault at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open.
- Cleared a height of 15’3”
- It is his first career Indoor #AETF weekly award.
