#AEHoops MBB Season Hits Midway Point, Week #12 Awards Announced
BOSTON – The America East men’s basketball schedule is at the midway point with Vermont once again sitting on top the league standings at 7-0. The Catamounts, winners of 10 in a row overall, extended their league-record conference win streak to 28 games, the longest-active win streak in the country. UMBC, which will open its new arena this Saturday vs. Vermont, is in sole possession of second place at 6-2 while Hartford and New Hampshire are tied for third at 5-3. The top four teams in the #AEHoops standings at the end of the year will host quarterfinal contests of the #AEPlayoffs.

Co-Player of the Week
Jairus Lyles, UMBC – Sr., Guard, Silver Spring, Md.
- Averaged a league-best 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals in a 2-0 week for UMBC.
- Shot 55 percent (18-of-33) from the field overall and 63 percent (10-of-16) from three-point land.
- Had 34 points, six rebounds and four steals in a win over Maine Saturday.
- Contributed 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in a win over Binghamton Wednesday.
- This is Lyles’ second Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of his career.
Co-Player of the Week
Jahad Thomas, UMass Lowell – Sr., Forward, Williamsport, Pa.
- Averaged 25.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists a pair games for UMass Lowell last week.
- Shot 67 percent (18-of-27) from the floor.
- Tied his career high with 30 points in a win over Stony Brook Wednesday.
- Had 20 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists vs. Hartford Saturday.
- This is Thomas’ third Player of the Week honor of the season (11/21, 11/28) and sixth of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Daniel Akin, UMBC – Fr., Forward, Eltham, England
- Averaged 8.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for UMBC last week.
- Shot 86 percent (6-of-7) from floor.
- Had eight points and eight rebounds in a win over Binghamton Wednesday.
- Contributed nine points and 10 rebounds in a win over Maine Saturday.
- This is Akin’s secondRookie of the Week honor of the season (1/15)
