Albany, New Hampshire, Stony Brook Earn Team Victories, #AETF Week 5 Awards

BOSTON – The past weekend was a successful one for a number of America East track and field programs. Albany swept the Middlebury Winterfell Meet, Maine men and women outscored Bryant at the Bates Invitational, the New Hampshire men defeated Holy Cross in their dual meet and Stony Brook’s women’s team placed second at the Penn 8-Team Select.
 
Here are this week’s award winners:

Female Track Performer of the Week
Amanda Stead, Stony Brook – Fr., Sprints, Miller Place, N.Y.
  • Won the 400m run at the Penn 8-Team Select.
  • Set a school record in the event with a time of 56.65.
  • It is her first career #AETF Performer of the Week award.
 
Male Track Performer of the Week
Sidney Gibbons, Albany – Jr., Hurdles, St. Albans, N.Y.
  • Won the 60m hurdles, setting a facility record with time of 8.05.
  • Also won the 60m dash in a time of 7.02.
  • It is his second consecutive #AETF Performer of the Week award.
 
Female Field Performer of the Week
Kaylyn Gordon, Stony Brook – Sr., Jumps, Spring Valley, N.Y.
  • Won the triple jump, marking 11.67m.
  • Her mark of 5.56m earned third place in the long jump.
  • Gordon helped the Seawolves to a second-place finish at the Penn 8-Team Select.
 
Male Field Performer of the Week
Michael Shanahan, New Hampshire – Sr., Throws, Dover, N.H.
  • Broke school record in the weight throw for the third time this season.
  • His distance of 72’4.5” ranks fifth in the country.
  • It is his third Indoor #AETF weekly award of the season.
