UMBC, New Hampshire Share #AESD Week 10 Awards

BOSTON – The majority of swimming and diving programs wrapped up their regular season competition last weekend and will compete next at the 2018 America East Swimming and Diving Championship. Only Maine and New Hampshire have meets prior to the championship, which will be held again at WPI in Worcester, Mass. from February 15-18. All four days of competition will be streamed live on AmericaEast.TV.
 
Here are this week’s award winners:
 
Female Swimmer of the Week
Liza Baykova, New Hampshire – Sr., Freestyle, Moscow, Russia
  • Helped the Wildcats to a 2-0 week with four first place finishes in the 50 free and 100 free.
  • She won the 50 free against Binghamton with a time of 23.78 and touched the wall first in the 100 free against Stony Brook in a time of 50.60.
  • It is Baykova’s fourth #AESD Swimmer of the Week award this season.
 
Male Swimmer of the Week
Alexander Gliese, UMBC – Jr., Backstroke, Columbia, Md.
  • Won the 100 back and 200 back to help UMBC to wins over VMI and ECU.
  • Finished with times of 50.97 in the 100 and 1:48.66 in the 200.
  • It is his third #AESD Swimmer of the Week honor of the season.
 
Female Diver of the Week
Allison Stefanelli, New Hampshire – So., Dives, Loudonville, N.Y.
  • Won the 1m diving event against Binghamton with a score of 246.44.
  • Posted a season-best 245.62 points in the 3m diving.
  • It is her third #AESD Female Diver award this season.
 
Male Diver of the Week
Elijah Wright, UMBC – Jr., Dives, Baltimore
  • Swept both diving events against East Carolina.
  • Earned a score of 287.95 in the 1m and 288.75 in the 3m.
  • It is Wright’s third Male Diver of the Week award of the season.
