Féquière, Watkins Named #AEHoops Co-Players of the Week for Second Consecutive Week

BOSTON – Four conference games kick off the new year in America East women's basketball on Wednesday. For the first time since 2005-06, six programs enter conference play with winning records. The defending champion Albany Great Danes enter the second half of the season atop the standings after a 7-0 record in the month of December. Binghamton is also coming off a successful month and is currently riding a five-game win streak. The Bearcats won five of their six games in December while the Hartford Hawks went 5-2 in the final month of the calendar year.
 
Stony Brook ranks inside the nation’s top-20 in scoring defense allowing 55.2 points per game. The Bearcats lead the country in blocked shots guided by senior Alyssa James, who is averaging 4.6 blocks per contest. Imani Watkins ranks 21st in the nation in scoring, averaging 20.9 points per game.

Co-Player of the Week
Imani Watkins, Binghamton – Sr., G, High Point, N.C.
  • Led the Bearcats to victory over Dartmouth behind a game-high 24 points.
  • Watkins also notched five steals in the Bearcats’ fifth-straight victory.
  • Shot 40 percent including 4-9 from behind the arc.
  • It is her second consecutive #AEHoops Player of the Week award.
Co-Player of the Week
Jessica Féquière, Albany – Sr., F, Montreal, Quebec
  • Scored a game-high 22 points in Albany’s win over Dartmouth.
  • Also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and added four steals in the Great Danes’ seventh consecutive victory.
  • Shot 50 percent from the field including 5-10 from three-point range.
  • It is her second consecutive #AEHoops Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Jade Young, Hartford – Fr., G, Philadelphia
  • Averaged eight points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists and two steals per game.
  • Scored 11 points and had a career-high seven assists in win over Yale.
  • Shot 50 percent in two-game span.
  • It is her first career #AEHoops Rookie of the Week award.
