Vermont, Hartford Stay Hot, Earn Week #10 MBB #AEHoops Honors

BOSTON – The second week of men's basketball conference play saw Vermont, Hartford, Albany and New Hampshire all go unbeaten:
  • Vermont (13-5) extended its win streak to six games overall with victories over Dartmouth and Stony Brook and is off to a 3-0 start in conference play. The Catamounts extended their league-record conference win streak to 24 games, the longest-active win streak in the country.
  • Hartford (10-8) is 3-1 in conference play and has won five of its last six overall after going 2-0 last week. That included a win over Binghamton during which the Hawks hit a program and league-tying record 18 three-pointers and Travis Weatherington matched the program mark with 10 treys.
  • Albany (14-5) recovered from an 0-2 conference start with convincing wins vs. Stony Brook and at Maine. The two wins were by an average of 15.5 points.
  • New Hampshire (6-11) beat Binghamton to improve to 2-1 in league play and win for the third time in four games.

Co-Player of the Week
Travis Weatherington, Hartford – Jr., Guard, Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Scored a career-high 34 points on 12-of-14 shooting in Hartford’s win over Binghamton Saturday.
  • Tied Hartford’s program record with 10 made three-pointers and shot 10-of-11 from deep.
  • The 10 threes are tied for the third most ever in an America East game.
  • Averaged 18.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Hartford.
  • This is Weatherington’s first career Player of the Week honor.
Co-Player of the Week
Trae Bell-Haynes, Vermont – Sr., Guard, Toronto, Ont.
  • Averaged 23.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Vermont.
  • Shot 80 percent (16-of-20) from the field.
  • Scored 27 points on perfect 10-for-10 shooting in a win over Dartmouth Wednesday.
  • Had 20 points and six rebounds in a win over Stony Brook Saturday.
  • This is Bell-Haynes first Player of the Week honor of the season and second of his career (11/23/15).
Rookie of the Week
Daniel Akin, UMBC – Fr., Forward, Elkin, England
  • Averaged 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of UMBC games last week.
  • Registered career highs of 11 points on perfect 3-for-3 shooting and seven rebounds in 23 minutes of action to key the Retrievers’ comeback win at Maine Wednesday.
  • This is Akin’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
