#AEFH Teams Have Strong Week, Week #2 Awards Announced

BOSTON – #AEFH programs went 11-6 last week, including three wins by Maine. The Black Bears are one of three America East programs ranked in the latest NFHCA Top-25: #13 Stanford, #21 Albany, #24 Maine. America East is joined by the ACC and B10 as the only conferences with three teams ranked.

Here are the conference's week two award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Libby Riedl, Maine – Jr., Midfielder, Port Moody, B.C.
  • Tallied a conference-best 12 points on four goals and four assists last week in a 3-0 week for Maine.
  • Had nine points (3 goals, 3 assists) in a win of Bryant, the most by an #AEFH player since Pacific’s Kriekie van Wyk had 10 on Sept. 23, 2016.
  • This is Riedl’s first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career (8/30/16). She was also named Player of the Week on Oct. 12, 2015.
Defensive Player of the Week
Eva Berkhout, UMass Lowell – So., Goalkeeper, Amersfoot, Utrecht, Netherlands
  • Went 2-0 with a 0.90 GAA and a league-best .867 save percentage to lead UMass Lowell to two wins last week.
  • Recorded a conference-best .867 save percentage last week, stopping 13 of 15 shots she faced.
  • Had a season-high 10 saves in a 2-1 overtime win over Miami (Ohio) Friday.
  • This is Berkhout’s first #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career (10/11/16).
Rookie of the Week
Corinne Zanolli, Stanford – Fr., Forward, Newton Square, Pa.
  • Scored three goals in a pair of Stanford wins over ranked foes last week.
  • Scored twice, including the game winner in the 68th minute, of a 3-2 win over Iowa Friday.
  • This is Zanolli’s first career #AEFH Rookie of the Week award.
