Albany, Hartford, Maine, UNH Off to 1-0 Starts in #AEWSOC Play. Week #6 Awards Announced

BOSTON – Conference play began for eight of America East’s nine women’s soccer programs on Sunday. Albany, Hartford, Maine and New Hampshire got off to 1-0 starts with three of the four games being decided by just one goal.

at Maine 1, Stony Brook 0
at New Hampshire 2, Binghamton 1
 
Conference play continues with games Thursday and Sunday this week. The majority of #AEWSOC conference games will appear on AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Here are the conference's week six award winners:

Co-Player of the Week
Vivian Vega, Albany – Sr., Forward, Santa Ana, Calif.
  • Scored twice, Albany’s first and third goals, in a 3-1 win at UMBC Sunday,
  • Sit one goal shy of tying Albany’s all-time program goals mark of 22.
  • This is Vega’s first #AEWSOC Player of the Week honor of the season and second of her career (9/8/14).
Co-Player of the Week
Bridgette Alexander, Hartford – So., Forward, Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
  • Scored three goals in a pair of Hartford wins last week.
  • Tallied two scores in a win over Wagner Thursday and had the game winner in a 2-1 win over UMass Lowell Sunday to get Hartford off to a 1-0 start in #AEWSOC play.
  • This is Alexander’s first career #AEWSOC Player of the Week award.
Rookie of the Week
Kristin Birgisdottir, UMass Lowell – Fr., Forward, Mosfellsbaer, Iceland
  • Scored her first career goal in UMass Lowell’s narrow 2-1 loss to Hartford Sunday.
  • This is Birgisdottir’s first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week accolade.
