Binghamton Continues Strong Start; Saager, Corbi Earn #AEWSOC Week #4 Awards

 BOSTON – Five #AEWSOC programs earned victories last week, including Binghamton, which at 5-1-2 is off to its best eight-game start since its 2004 America East championship-winning season.

Here are the conference's week four award winners:

Player of the Week
Kayla Saager, Binghamton - Jr., Forward, East Islip, N.Y.
  • Scored a goal in each of Binghamton’s games last week.
  • Had the Bearcats’ lone score in a 1-1 tie with Lafayette Friday and the game winner in a 2-0 victory over Cornell Sunday.
  • Leads the league and is tied for fifth nationally with 16 points on six goals and four assists this season.
  • This is Saager’s third #AEWSOC Player of the Week award of the season and third of her career (8/20, 9/5).
  • She’s the first #AEWSOC standout to earn three of a season’s first four Player of the Week honors since Hartford’s Jessica Reifer did so in 1993.
Rookie of the Week
Christina Corbi, UMBC – Fr., Forward/Midfielder, Medford, N.J.
  • Had a goal and an assist in two games last week.
  • Tallied her first career assist vs. Liberty Thursday and notched the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over Longwood Sunday.
  • This is Corbi’s first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week award.
