Trio Earns 1st #AEFH Awards of 2017 Season
BOSTON – The 2017 season began for all nine #AEFH programs over the weekend and saw UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, Pacific and Vermont pick up wins. America East was joined by the ACC and B1G as the only Division I conferences with four programs ranked in the NFHCA preseason Top-25: #13 Stanford, #18 Albany, #24 Maine, #T25 Pacific.
Here are the conference's week one award winners:
Offensive Player of the Week
Anouk Lalande, UMass Lowell – So., Forward, Brussels, Belgium
- Tallied a conference-best seven points on three goals and an assist last week.
- Scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in UMass Lowell’s 3-1 win over Colgate Friday.
- Had both River Hawk goals in a narrow 3-2 loss to Hofstra Sunday.
- This is Lalande’s first career #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kelsey Bing, Stanford – So., Goalkeeper, Houston, Texas
- Stopped 20 of the 23 shots she faced vs. a pair of top-14 opponents.
- Recorded a conference-best .870 save percentage last week and was second with a 1.50 GAA.
- This is her second career #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week honor (10/27/16).
Rookie of the Week
Bloem van den Brekel, New Hampshire – Fr., Forward, Eindoven, Netherlands
- Recorded her first career point in UNH’s 5-4 overtime win over Northeastern.
- Set up the game-winning goal in overtime.
- This is van den Brekel’s first career #AEFH Rookie of the Week award.
