#AEMSOC Teams go 6-3 on Opening Weekend, Duo Nets Week #1 Awards

BOSTON – After a strong 2016 season, America East men’s soccer teams picked up where they left off last season with a solid start to the 2017 campaign. #AEMSOC squads combined to go 6-3-0 on opening weekend with Binghamton, UMBC, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, Stony Brook and Vermont posting wins.

Here are the conference's week one award winners:

Player of the Week
Geo Alves, Vermont - Jr., Forward, Sao Filipe, Cape Verde
  • Tallied seven points on three goals and an assist in a pair of games last week.
  • Scored twice and had an assist in Vermont’s season-opening 4-1 win at Hartwick Friday.
  • Had the Catamounts’ lone goal in a 2-1 loss to San Diego State Sunday.
  • This is Alves’ first-career #AEMSOC Player of the Week honor.
Rookie of the Week
Noah Luescher, Binghamton – Fr., Midfielder/Forward, Meisterschwanden, Switzerland
  • Had a goal and an assist in Binghamton’s 4-0 win over Atlantic 10 foe George Washington on Friday, his collegiate debut.
  • Set up the game’s first goal in the fourth minute and scored in the 56th minute to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead.
  • This is Luescher’s first career #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week award.
