Former Student-Athletes Gather at #AEAlums Networking Event
BOSTON - The America East Alumni Network held its first-ever in-person event on Wednesday, Aug. 2, bringing together former America East student-athletes to network together and with conference staff.
Nearly 50 former student-athletes from seven America East schools and having graduated from as far back as 2001 through as recent as 2017 gathered together.
“We are excited to be able to bring so many former America East student-athletes to Boston for our first networking event," said America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen."We have focused so much on helping our student-athletes prepare for life after college. To be able to engage our former student-athletes after graduation and help them grow in their careers is why we started the Alumni Network and we're looking forward doing at our event."
The America East Alumni Network was established in 2015 as a mechanism for former student-athletes to professionally network with their peers – locally, regionally and globally – while also fostering legacy ambassadors for the conference’s #3Pillars platform. In its time, the network has grown to over 170 members and established a presence on Linkedin.
America East has always prided itself on providing a forum for its current student-athletes to excel in all three pillars of the student-athlete experience – athletics, academics and leadership on and off the field. With the goal of extending that forum beyond graduation, the conference announced the establishment of the America East Student-Athlete Alumni Network on in 2015, believed to be the first of its kind for a Division I conference.
