STONY BROOK, N.Y. - After completing their third-straight unbeaten conference season and winning their fifth-straight regular season title, the Stony Brook Seawolves took home five of the six America East women's lacrosse major honors at the annual awards banquet held on Thursday night, the eve of the 2017 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship in Stony Brook, N.Y. The five honorees included sophomore Anna Tesoriero (Goalkeeper of the Year), freshman Taryn Ohlmiller (Rookie of the Year), junior Brooke Gubitosi (Defensive Player of the Year) and junior Kylie Ohlmiller (Offensive Player of the Year) while Joe Spallina earned Coach of the Year. Albany senior Sarah Martin also earned a major award, earning the inaugural Midfielder of the Year honor.
Award winners were nominated by their own coaches and voted on by the conference's head coaches, who could not vote for their own team.

Offensive Player of the Year
Kylie Ohlmiller, Jr., Attack, Stony Brook
- Leads the country in points per game at 7.65 and is on pace to break the NCAA single-season record.
- Set America East single-season records in both assists (33) and points (51) in league play.
- Is the all-time career points leader in America East history.
- Second-straight Seawolf to earn the honor.
- One of 25 players in the country to be a Tewaaraton Award nominee.
Defensive Player of the Year
Brooke Gubitosi, Jr., Defense, Stony Brook
- Set the America East single-season record for caused turnovers in league games with 24.
- Ranked second during conference play with 17 ground balls.
- Has helped Stony Brook lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 6.88 goals per game.
- Her 44 caused turnovers rank fourth all-time for a single-season for all games played in conference history.
Goalkeeper of the Year
Anna Tesoriero, So., Goalkeeper, Stony Brook
- Leads the nation in goals against average at 6.88.
- Her .517 save percentage leads the America East and ranks eighth in the nation.
- Has been even better in league play with a 5.83 goals against average and a .521 save percentage.
Midfielder of the Year
Sarah Martin, Sr., Midfielder, Albany
- Ranks second in the country and first among midfielders, averaging 6.07 points per game.
- Tied for second in the conference during league play with 20 goals.
- Also leads the league with 5.73 draw controls per game.
- One of 25 players in the country to be a Tewaaraton Award nominee.
Rookie of the Year
Taryn Ohlmiller, Fr., Attack, Stony Brook
- Ranks first among freshmen in the country, averaging 4.82 points per game.
- Leads all freshmen in the Americca East with 49 goals and ranks second with 33 assists.
- She is the third Seawolf in the last four years to earn the honor. Her sister, Kylie, also won the award in 2015.
Coach of the Year
Joe Spallina, Stony Brook
- Named Coach of the Year for the fourth time overall and third-straight season.
- Led Stony Brook to its fourth unbeaten conference season in the last five years.
- Has the Seawolves ranked fourth in both the IWLCA and Inside Lacrosse polls.
Thirty-six of the 48 All-Conference, All-Rookie and All-Academic selecitons will be in action at the 2017 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship, which will be held at Stony Brook's Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Action begins on Friday, May 5 with #1 Stony Brook hosting #4 New Hampshire in the first semifinal at 5:30 p.m. and #2 Albany taking on #3 UMBC at 8:00 p.m. The championship game will be played Sunday, May 7 at noon and air live on ESPN3.
