The 2017 America East Women's Lacrosse Championship begins on Friday with the semifinals to be played at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, N.Y. No. 1 Stony Brook will face No. 4 New Hampshire at 5:30 p.m. followed by No. 2 Albany vs. No. 3 UMBC at 8 p.m. with both games on AmericaEast.TV.

- Stony Brook and New Hampshire will meet in the semifinals for the second-straight season and for the third time in the last four years. The Seawolves beat the Wildcats, 17-4, last season in the semifinals.
- UNH is looking for its first win against Stony Brook since 2011. The Wildcats are also looking for their first trip to the finals since 2009.
- UNH has is making their fourth trip to the tournament in the last five years.
- Stony Brook is hosting the tournament for a conference-record fifth-straight season after completing their third-straight conference unbeaten season.
- This is the Seawolves' sixth-straight tournament appearance and they are looking for their fifth-straight title.

Stony Brook enters the tournament 4th in both the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and the IWLCA Coaches' Poll. Albany is 17th in Inside Lacrosse.

Stony Brook has won four-straight tournament titles entering 2017. Albany had won two prior to that in 2011 and 2012. New Hampshire has one tournament title to its name, coming in 2004. UMBC is in search of its first tournament title.

The No. 1 seed is 32-6 all-time in tournament play including 17-4 in the semifinals and 15-2 in the title game. The No. 1 seed has won seven of the last nine titles. All 4 semifinal losses have come since 2006.

The No. 2 seed is 20-17 all-time in the tournament including 14-6 in the semifinals and 5-10 in the final. The No. 2 seed last won a title in 2010. The No. 2 seed has failed to reach the final just 6 times (2011, ‘09, ‘08, ‘01 and 1996)

The No. 3 seed is 6-21 all-time in the tournament including 6-15 in the semifinals. The No. 3 seed has advanced to the title game six times (2011, 2009, 2008, 2001, 1996) but has yet to win one.

The No. 4 seed is 5-19 all-time in tournament play including 4-16 in the semifinals. All four wins have come since 2006. Only one team has won the title as a No. 4 seed and that came in 2012 when No. 4 Albany upset top-seeded Boston U. and went on to beat Stony Brook in the final.
