BOSTON – Several school records fell in the final week of the 2017 outdoor track and field season. Albany's Ryan Udvadia broke a 23 year-old school record in the men's 5000-meter run while Christine Eisenberg broke Stony Brook's record in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:09.45.
As the calendar flipped to May, the focus shifted to the 2017 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championship which will be begin Saturday, May 6 at the University of New Hampshire.
Here are this season's final award winners:
Male Track Performer of the Week
Jamal Cody, UMBC – So., Sprints/Hurdles, Hereford, Md.
- Broke his school record again in the 400m hurdles at the Penn Relays
- Took sixth in the race with a time of 52.27
- Time ranks 70th in the country and first in America East
- It is his second Male Track Performer of the Week honoree
Male Field Performer of the Week
Adrian Mitchell, Albany - Fr., Throws, Kingston, Jamaica
- Placed seventh in the championship division of the men's javelin at Penn Relays in 222-07.00
- Would rank him 39th in the country but his season best is 227'2” done at the Beach Invitational
- It is his third Male Field Performer of the Week award this season
Female Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire - Jr., Distance, Montgomery, Vt.
- Won the Olympic Development Mile championship at the Penn Relays in a time of 4:32.05
- It is the fastest mile time in the country this outdoor season
- It is her third honoree of the season
Female Field Performer of the Week
Keishorea Armstrong, Binghamton – Sr., Sprints/Jumps, Chatham, N.Y.
- Won the long jump at the Cornell Big Red Invitational
- Mark of 20'1.75” ranks 60th in the nation and first in America East
