STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's lacrosse team closed the game on a 7-2 run to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time in program history with a 13-9 win over Northwestern Sunday in the NCAA Second Round at LaValle Stadium. With the win – Stony Brook's 15th-straight victory – the Seawolves improve to 20-1, while the Wildcats close their season at 11-10.
 
The victory marks the first 20-win season in program history for the Seawolves, who went a perfect 11-0 at home this season.

By the Numbers
- Junior Kylie Ohlmiller (Islip, N.Y.) tallied two goals and four assists to increase her Division I single-season record with 157 points on 75 goals and 82 assists.
- Freshman Taryn Ohlmiller (Islip, N.Y.) had a team-high three goals plus an assist and leads all Division I freshmen with 98 points while ranking second in goals with 62.
- Junior Brooke Gubitosi (East Northport, N.Y.) matched a career-high with six caused turnovers and set a career-high with six ground balls. Gubitosi's six caused turnovers give her 53 for the year, passing Danielle Werner for the single-season program record.
- Sophomore Keri McCarthy (Hauppauge, N.Y.) tallied one goal, one assist and nine draw controls to become the first player in program history with 100 draw controls in a season. Stony Brook held a 13-11 advantage on the draw.
- Junior Samantha DiSalvo (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and freshman Ally Kennedy (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied two goals each.
- Senior Kristin Yevoli (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied one goal, one assists, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
- Senior Dorrien Van Dyke (Northport, N.Y.) and senior Alyssa Guido (Rocky Point, N.Y.) also tallied goals for the Seawolves, who had eight different scorers in the game.
 
Notes
- The victory was the fifth in NCAA tournament play for the Seawolves and second at LaValle Stadium.
- Stony Brook is 5-0 in the NCAA tournament when scoring eight goals or more and improves its all-time NCAA tournament record to 5-4.
- The Seawolves improve to 59-5 (.922) at LaValle Stadium under Coach Spallina and have won 22 straight games at home.
- The win was the 16th over an opponent ranked in the IWLCA poll in program history and fifth this season.
- The victory was the 13th in program history over a full member of a "Power 5" conference and fourth this year.
Kylie Ohlmiller's 82 assists on the season rank second in a single season in Division I history and one assist shy of the Division I single-season record of 83 set by Northwestern's Hannah Nielsen in 2009.
Kylie Ohlmiller stands at 334 career points through Sunday, up to 16th in Division I history. Ohlmiller passed Sheehan Stanwick and Katie Ferris, who had 330 points each in their collegiate careers.
- Yevoli moved up to seventh in program history in ground balls with 125, passing Amber Kupres.
