Ohlmiller Earns 8th #AEWLAX Weekly Award

BOSTON - With one week remaining in the regular season, the America East women's lacrosse bracket is set as Stony Brook, Albany, UMBC and New Hampshire have all clinched spots in the tournament. The Seawolves are the top seed and will host for the fifth-straight season, while Albany is the No. 2 seed, UMBC is No. 3 and UNH is No. 4.

Stony Brook clinched the top seed with a win over UMBC. The Retrievers hold the No. 3 seed by virtue of owning the tiebreaks against both New Hampshire and Binghamton. UNH earned the No. 4 seed with a win over Binghamton on Saturday. The Wildcats hold the tiebreak over the Bearcats by virtue of the head-to-head win. Here are the week 12 award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook, Jr., A, Islip, N.Y.

  • Totaled nine points in a win over UMBC on Saturday.
  • Notched four goals and five assists.
  • Ranks ahead of two Division I teams in totals points this season with 112. 
  • She is currently on pace to break Jen Adams' NCAA single-season points record of 148.

Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Tesoriero, Stony Brook, So., GK, Huntington, N.Y.

  • Made 12 saves and allowed just eight goals in a win over UMBC.
  • Had a .600 save percentage.
  • 7.27 goals against average in 2017 is nearly three goals better than the closest competitor.

Rookie of the Week
Hana Caster, UMass Lowell, Fr., M, North Attleboro, Mass.

  • Totaled nine goals in two games for the River Hawks.
  • Had a career-high six goals in a win over Vermont, tying a program record for goals and points.
  • Also added three draw controls and two ground balls for hte week.

Notes

  • UMass Lowell's win over Vermont was the team's first conference win in program history.
  • Kylie Ohlmiller is up to 10th in NCAA history with 149 career assists.
  • Stony Brook has won 23-straight games against America East competition including the conference tournament.
  • UNH held Binghamton to six goals, the lowest for any Wildcat opponent this season.
  • The Wildcats are 3-2 in April.
  • In six conference games, UNH has recorded more shots (160-145), ground balls (114-87) and caused turnovers (54-45) while committing fewer turnovers (60-66) than the opponent. The Wildcats also have the edge in both free position percentage (40.9% to 37.0%) and clear percentage (85.7% to 78.4%).
