BOSTON - Women's lacrosse season got started over the weekend with three America East teams in action. No. 6/5 Stony Brook earned a thrilling win, beating No. 19/19 Towson on the road, 10-9, on a goal with four seconds left. Here are the first weekly award winners of the year:
Offensive Player of the Week
Kylie Ohlmiller, Stony Brook, Jr., A, Islip, N.Y.
- Scored the game-winning goal with four seconds remaining in No. 6/5 Stony Brook's 10-9 victory over No. 19/19 Towson Saturday
- Added three assists, giving her 94 for her career - two shy of Kaitlin Leggio '09 for third in program history
Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Tesoriero, Stony Brook, So., GK, Huntington, N.Y.
- Tallied six saves and two caused turnovers in the win over Towson
- Made five of her six saves in the second half
Rookie of the Week
Ally Kennedy, Stony Brook, Fr., M, North Babylon, N.Y.
- Had two goals in her collegiate debut
- On her first collegiate goal, caused a turnover by the Towson goalie, collected the ground ball, and went uncontested to the net for the goal
- First Stony Brook player with 2+ goals in her collegiate debut since Murphy/Van Dyke in 2014
