BOSTON - America East baseball teams had impressive performances over the weekend, racking up 11 total wins between five teams. Binghamton went a perfect 3-0, Maine went 3-1 and both UMass Lowell and Albany had a pair of wins. Here are the week two award winners:
Player of the Week
Justin Yurchak, Binghamton, So., 3B, Clifton Park, N.Y.
- Hit .692 (9-for-13) with five RBI, four runs and two doubles in a 3-0 week.
- Went a combined 6-for-8 in a pair of wins over Toledo.
- Had three hits and three RBIs in a win over Richmond on Sunday.
- He is hitting a ridiculous .654 on the season.
Pitcher of the Week
Nick Silva, Maine, So., SP, Miami, Fla.
- Tossed six shutout innings in a win over South Dakota State.
- Scattered five hits while striking out seven.
Rookie of the Week
Austin Young, UMass Lowell, Fr., C, Millbury, Mass.
- Hit .545 with six hits over three games for the River Hawks.
- Scored five runs and drove in three, including his first career home run.
- Finished with a .909 slugging percentage and a .643 on-base percentage.
