BOSTON – The 2017 America East Indoor Track and Field Championship is less than two weeks away. As the number of non-scoring meets increases, several student-athletes have had big performances.
Here are this week’s award winners:
Male Track Performer of the Week
Eric Holt, Binghamton – Sr., Distance, Carmel, N.Y.
- Holt ran a 4:02.09 mile to place fourth overall at the Boston/Valentines Invitational this past weekend.
- His time ranks 40th among NCAA Division I runners this season and tops the America East leaderboard.
- Holt is now just two seconds away from joining Erik van Ingen and Jesse Garn as Binghamton runner who have broken the four-minute mark in the mile.
Male Field Performer of the Week
Devon Willis, Albany - Jr., Jumps/Hurdles, Schenectady, N.Y.
- Placed second in the triple jump at the Tyson Invitational.
- Mark of 51-08.50 (15.76m) is new personal best in indoor or outdoor event and ranks 18th in the country.
- Willis tied an indoor school record set in 2009 by Michael McCadney.
Female Track Performer of the Week
Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire - Jr., Distance, Montgomery, Vt.
- Finished the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in time of 4:29.44.
- Time is the second-fastest by a collegiate runner this season and eighth fastest all time.
- The only faster time this year was by defending NCAA mile champion Kaela Edwards of Colorado State at 4:28.75 in the same race.
- It is Purrier's third Track Performer of the Week award this season.
Female Field Performer of the Week
Anika Hibbard, Albany - So., Multis/High Jump, Bedford, N.H.
- Placed second in the high jump at the Tyson Invitational.
- Mark of 5-08.75 (1.75m) was an indoor personal best.
- Broke indoor school record of 5-08-50 set in 2013 by Rochelle Reid.
