Lyles Leads UMBC to Big Win, Earns Week #6 #AEHoops Player of Week Honor
BOSTON – Binghamton (8-4) extended its win streak in seven games, its longest in nine seasons, while UMBC (8-5) won a pair of games, including over 2017 NCAA tournament participant Northern Kentucky, and Albany improved to 11-2 on the season.

Here are the week #6 award winners for the 2017-18 season:
Player of the Week
Jairus Lyles, UMBC – Sr., Guard, Silver Spring, Md.
- Averaged a league-best 29.0 points and added 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a pair of UMBC wins last week.
- Scored 27 points and added six rebounds in a win over Coppin State.
- Had a season-high 31 points and contributed six assists in a win over 2017 NCAA tournament participant Northern Kentucky.
- This is Lyles’ first Player of the Week honor of the season and fourth of his career.
Rookie of the Week
Stef Smith, Vermont – Fr., Guard, Ajax, Ontario
- Averaged 9.0 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with 3.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Vermont.
- Had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting and added six assists in just 18 minutes of action in a win over Siena.
- This is first career Rookie of the Week honor.
