Purrier, Hogan Set to Compete in NCAA Cross Country Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – New Hampshire’s Elinor Purrier and UMass Lowell’s Paul Hogan will run in the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday November 18 at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, hosted by the University of Louisville. It' is the fourth time in six years at least one #AEXC male and one female have qualified for NCAAs. 

Purrier, a senior who finished seventh at the NCAA Championships last season, won the Northeast Regional race for the second consecutive year in a time of 21:20.8. She finished four seconds ahead of the next runner. This is her eighth NCAA championship appearance between cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field. She is a seven-time All-American as well as the reigning America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
 
Hogan, who did not compete in the 2016 cross country season, will represent UMass Lowell in their first year being eligible for NCAA Championships. The junior from Burlington, Mass., who finished fourth in the Northeast Regional Championship with a time of 31:58.6, is the first River Hawk to qualifty for the Division I national championship. 
 
Both Purrier and Hogan won individual titles at the 2017 America East Cross Country Championship in St. Albans, Vt. on October 28. Each and were named to the 2017 #AEXC All-Academic teams Wednesday.
 
The NCAA Championships begin with the women’s race at 10:45 a.m. EST Saturday, followed by the men’s race at 11:45 a.m. EST. The vent will be streamed live on www.FloTrack.com with a subscription.
