Albany's Udvadia, Stony Brook's Ortega Earn #AEXC Weekly Awards

BOSTON – All five America East cross country teams in action last week competed in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh while others set their sights on New England Championships. On the women’s side, Stony Brook led America East teams with a 23rd place finish in the 6K race. It was also Stony Brook who had the top score in the men’s 8K race, finishing 11th overall.
 
Here are this week’s award winners –
 
 
Male Performer of the Week
Ryan Udvadia, Albany – Sr., Shoreham, N.Y.
  • Placed 37th overall at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational in 24:14.5
  • Udvadia led Albany to a 21st place finish in the 8K Gold Race
  • His time ranks second all-time in program history
  • It is his first #AEXC Performer of the Week Award this year
 
Female Performer of the Week
Alexandria Ortega, Stony Brook – Jr., Amherst, N.Y.
  • Placed 53rd with a time of 20:53 in the Paul Short Invitational
  • The junior helped the Seawolves place 23rd overall in the 6K Gold Race
  • It is Ortega’s first #AEXC Performer of the Week honor of the season

Sept. 27 – Male Performer of the Week: Paul Hogan, UMass Lowell; Female Performer of the Week: Elinor Purrier, New Hampshire
Oct. 4 – Male Performer of the Week: Ryan Udvadia, Albany; Female Performer of the Week: Aelxandria Ortega, Stony Brook
