5 Teams Earn #AEFH Wins, Week #6 Awards Handed Out

BOSTON –  Albany, Cal, Maine, UMass Lowell and New Hampshire all picked up conference field hockey wins over the weekend. The River Hawks earned their first-ever win over a ranked opponent since moving up to Division I in 2013. Stanford, Albany and Pacific remained ranked in the NFHCA Coaches poll this week with the Cardinal and Great Danes each sliding back one spot to #12, #19, respectively, while Pacific rose one place to #23.

Here are the conference's week six award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Brianna Ricker, Maine – So. Forward, Port Moody, B.C.
  • Scored a pair of second-half goals to lead Maine to a comeback win over UMass Lowell Sunday.
  • The Black Bears trailed 2-0 before Ricker found the back of the cage in the 37th and 56th minutes.
  • This is Ricker’s first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Eva Berkhout, UMass Lowell – So., Goalkeeper, Utrecht, Netherlands
 
  • Made nine saves in UMass Lowell’s 2-1 double overtime win over #18 Albany Friday.
  • It was UMass Lowell’s first win over a ranked opponent since moving up to Division I in 2013.
  • Collected a .750 save percentage & 1.64 GAA in two games.
  • This is Berkhout’s second #AEFH Defensive Player of the Week award of the season and third of her career (9/6/16, 10/11/16).
Rookie of the Week
Megan Rodgers, California – Fr., Forward, San Diego, Calif.
  • Scored twice, including the game winner, Cal’s 3-2 win over UC Davis.
  • The Bears have won six straight.
  • This is Rodgers’ second #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor of the season (9/12).
