Stony Brook, Vermont Post Upset Road Wins, Will Play for #AEWSOC Title

For the first time in America East history, the women’s soccer title will be decided between the #5 and 6 seeds as #5 Stony Brook and #6 Vermont each scored second-half goals to post 1-0 victories on the road in the semifinals Sunday to advance to the conference's championship game.

Brooke Jenkins’ goal in the 83rd minute propelled Vermont to a 1-0 win at #2 Binghamton while Manuela Corcho’s 76th minute score gave Stony Brook a 1-0 win at #1 New Hampshire. The Catamounts’ Coco Speckmaier and Seawolves’ Sofia Manner each made five saves in net to earn shutouts.

Stony Brook (10-10-0) will host Vermont (9-8-2) in the championship game on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. The Seawolves are in the title game for the first time since 2013 while the Catamounts will be playing for the league title for the first time ever. The title tilt will be broadcast on AmericaEast.TV.
