Week #9 #AEFH Awards Announced as Regular-Season Winds Down

BOSTON –  Just one week remains 2017 #AEFH regular season with the 2017 America East Field Hockey Championship taking place Nov. 2-5 at UMass Lowell. Maine posted a crucial win over Albany last week and with two wins this weekend can capture the East Division title. Cal and Pacific have captured shares of the West Division crown and Stanford can join them with a win over UC Davis Saturday.

League play continues this week with the majority of #AEFH conference games will appear on AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Here are the conference's week nine award winners:

Offensive Player of the Week
Savannah Burns, Pacific – Sr., Midfielder,  Somerset, South Africa
  • Tallied a league-high tying six points in a pair of crucial wins over Stanford and UC Davis for Pacific over the weekend.
  • Scored twice and had an assist in a win over UC Davis Sunday.
  • This is burns' first #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Cochran, Maine - Sr., Goalkeeper, Surrey, B.C.
  • Stopped 10 of 11 shots she faced in leading Maine to a 2-0 week;
  • Had seven saves in a 1-0 shutout win over #20 Albany.
  • This is Cochran's first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Corinne Zannolli, Stanford - Fr., Forward, San Diego, Calif.
  • Tallied five points on two goals & an assist last week, including a goal and an assist in key 4-0 win over Cal
  • This is Zannolli’s third #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor of the season (10/26, 9/6).
