Binghamton, UNH Share #AEWSOC Regular-Season Title, #AEChamps Bracket Set

The field, seeds and matchups for the 2017 America East Women’s Soccer Championship are set following an exciting final day of the regular-season that saw Vermont earn the final tournament berth and Binghamton win a share of the league’s regular-season title, along with New Hampshire.
 
With five programs -Albany, Binghamton, Hartford, New Hampshire and Stony Brook- having already secured bids to the tournament entering Sunday, the Catamounts downed the Seawolves, 2-0, and earned the final berth after Maine defeated UMass Lowell, 1-0. UVM will head to the championship for the third-straight year.
 
The Bearcats earned a piece of the regular-season title for the first time since 2004 and the tournament’s No. 2 seed after Erin Theiller’s overtime goal gave the Bearcats a 3-2 OT win over Hartford. New Hampshire, which had secured the top seed for the championship on Thursday, got upset at UMBC, 3-1. The Wildcats are the top seed for the first time since 2007 by virtue of its regular-season win over Binghamton,
 
The championship gets underway with quarterfinal action on Thursday, Oct. 26 as #4 Hartford hosts #5 Stony Brook at 6 p.m. and #3 Albany entertains #6 Vermont at 7 p.m. Semifinal action takes place on Sunday, Oct. 29 with #2 Binghamton welcoming the Albany-Vermont winner at 1 p.m. and #1 New Hampshire hosting the Hartford-Stony Brook winner at 2 p.m. The semifinal winners will face off for the 2017 conference title at the higher remaining seed on either Saturday, Nov. 4 or Sunday, Nov. 5. All tournament games will air on either ESPN3 or AmericaEast.TV.
