New Hampshire, UMBC Student-Athletes Earn #AESD Week 2 Awards

BOSTON – The second official week of the 2017-18 America East swimming and diving season included the season-opening meet for New Hampshire, in which the Wildcats earned a 169-131 victory over Vermont.
 
Here are this week’s award winners:
 
Female Swimmer of the Week
Liza Baykova, New Hampshire – Sr., Freestyle, Moscow, Russia
  • Won the 50 freestyle in a time of 23.91
  • Won the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:51.04
  • Was a member of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team, helping the Wildcats defeat Vermont
 
Male Swimmer of the Week
Alexander Gliese, UMBC – Jr., Backstroke, Columbia, Md.
  • Won the 100 backstroke in a time of 51.32
  • Won the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:49.78
  • It is Gliese's first #AESD weekly honor
 
Female Diver of the Week
Allison Stefanelli, New Hampshire – So., Dives, Loudonville, N.Y.
  • Won the 3m diving event with a score of 241.42
  • Placed second in the 1m with a score of 237.37 helping UNH win their first meet of the season
Male Diver of the Week
*No men's diving teams competed last week
