Albany, Cal Lead #AEFH Divisions with Two Weeks Left
BOSTON – Albany and Cal are perched atop the #AEFH divisions midway through the 2017 season. The Great Danes sit in first place in the East Division at 4-1 while Cal is 3-1 and in first place in the West Division standings. Just two weeks remain in the regular season with the 2017 America East Field Hockey Championship taking place Nov. 2-5 at UMass Lowell.
League play continues this week with the majority of #AEFH conference games will appear on AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Offensive Player of the Week
Kriekie van Wyk, Pacific – Jr., Forward, Pretoria, South Africa
- Tallied a league-high nine points on four goals and an assist in a pair of #AEFH wins last week.
- Had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Cal Friday.
- Recorded a hat trick in a 6-1 win over UC Davis Sunday.
- This is van Wyk’s second #AEFH Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of her career (9/26/17, 9/13/16).
Defensive Player of the Week
Lena Benwood, Vermont – Sr., Goalkeeper, North Vancouver, B.C.
- Stopped 12 of the 15 shots she saw last week and posted a league-best .800 save percentage.
- Had eight saves in a 1-0 double-overtime win over New Hampshire Sunday.
- This is Benwood’s first Defensive Player of the Week award of the season and third of her career (9/13/16, 10/13/14)
Rookie of the Week
Megan Rodgers, Cal – Fr., Forward, San Diego, Calif.
- Tallied three goals in a pair of games last week.
- Scored once in a 4-2 win over Stanford Sunday, the Bears’ first win over the Cardinal in five tries.
- This is Rodgers’ third #AEFH Rookie of the Week honor of the season (10/3, 9/12).
