UNH, Vermont Top #AEMSOC Standings at Midway Point, Week #8 Awards Announced
BOSTON - Conference play crossed the midway point for all eight #AEMSOC team over the weekend. New Hampshire and Vermont each posted a pair of league wins last week and sit tied at the top of the standings at 3-1-0 and nine points. UMBC is in third place at 2-1-1 with seven points, followed by Albany and UMass Lowell each at 2-2-0 and six points, Binghamton at 1-1-2 with five points, Stony Brook at 0-2-2 with two points and Hartford at 0-3-1 with one point. The top six teams in the #AEMSOC standings will qualify for the 2017 America East Men’s Soccer Championship.
#AEMSOC teams have compiled a .593 non-conference win percentage thus far, the third-best rate in Division I, trailing only the ACC and BIG. Three teams are ranked in the top 50 of the RPI and have NCAA at-large bids in sight with New Hampshire at #19, UMBC at #41 and Albany at #48.
The majority of #AEMSOC conference games will appear on AmericaEast.TV, the place to watch free live content on any device, including the network's Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Player of the Week
Geo Alves, Vermont – Jr., Forward, Sao Filipe, Cape Verde
- Scored a goal in each of Vermont' conference wins last week.
- Had the first score in a 2-1 road win at Stony Brook Wednesday.
- Tallied the game winner in the 51st minute of Vermont's 2-1 win over UMass Lowell Saturday.
- This is Alves' second #AEMSOC Player of the Week honor of the year and his career (8/28).
Rookie of the Week
Jack Muller, Binghamton – Fr., Binghamton, Upper Falls, Md.
- Scored the lone goal in Binghamton's 1-0 double overtime win at Hartford Wednesday.
- Found the back of the net with just 4:10 left in the second extra session.
- This is Muller's first career #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week award.
