BOSTON - Conference plays officially hit the midway point over the weekend as eight games remain before the 2017 America East Women's Basketball Championship. The University of New Hampshire continued its historic season with a perfect first half of conference play at 8-0. The Wildcats are in the midst of a program-best 12-game winning streak and have the highest RPI in the conference at 88. Three teams are tied for second in Albany, Hartford and Binghamton at 5-3 with UMBC and Maine close behind at 4-4. Here are the week 12 award winners:
Player of the Week
Imani Tate, Albany, Sr., G, Bronx, N.Y.
- Averaged a league-best 26.0 points to go with 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week.
- Shot 50% (17-of-34) from the floor and 70% (7-of-10) from 3-point range.
- Scored 23 points in 23 minutes in a win over Hartford.
- Poured in 29 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals in a win over Vermont.
Rookie of the Week
Sierra DaCosta, Hartford, Fr., G, Philadelphia, Pa.
- Averaged 20.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Hartford.
- Scored 23 points behind 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 shooting from behind the arc, adding an 8-of-9 effort from the free throw line in Wednesday double OT win over Binghamton.
- Led the Hawks with 17 points in a loss at Albany. Scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, helping Hartford cut a 28 point deficit all the way down to 6.
- Finished the week 16-of-17 from the free throw line.
