BOSTON - UMBC, Stony Brook and Vermont all went unbeaten last week as America East's women's soccer teams wrapped up the last full week of non-conference play ahead of league action beginning on Sunday, Sept. 25. Here are the week five award winners:
Co-Player of the Week
Coco Speckmaier, Vermont, Jr., GK,Miami, Fla.
- Led the Catamounts to an unbeaten weekend with wins over The Citadel and Charleston Southern in the Nike Challenge 2 Series in Charleston, S.C.
- Posted a two-game total of 14 saves and allowed just one goal.
- Had three saves in her third clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 win over The Citadel.
- Was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Co-Player of the Week
Gabby Boehmer, UMBC, Jr., M, Lebanon, Pa.
- Scored two goals in the Retrievers' 3-1 win over Delaware State, her first multi-goal game of her career.
- Led the team with eight shots, five on goal (both season highs).
- The win helped to end a four-game losing streak for UMBC and preserved the Retrievers' unbeaten home record.
Rookie of the Week
Lea Kalmbach, Stony Brook, Fr. M, Tettnang, Germany
- Totaled a goal and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Seawolves.
- Scored the game-winning goal and later added an assist in Stony Brook's 3-0 win over Wagner.
- The three-point game were her first points of her career.
