Fernandes, Pulliam Earn #AEMSOC Awards as Teams Improve to 23-10-6 on the Year

BOSTON - America East's men's soccer teams continued their strong start to the 2016 season through three weeks, improving to 23-10-6 (.667) last week. UMass Lowell (5-0-0) extended its Division I-era best win streak to five games while Vermont, which entered the NSCAA Top 25 at #23 last week, beat Old Dominion en route to winning the ODU Soccer Classic. Here are the week three award winners:

Player of the Week
Wuilito Fernandes, UMass Lowell - Sr., Forward, Praia, Cape Verde

  • Scored both goals in UMass Lowell's 2-1 win at Quinnipiac Saturday.
  • Found the back of the net in the 25th and 38th minutes after his team got behind, 1-0.
  • Helped the River Hawks get off to a 5-0 start, their longest-ever win streak at the Division I level.
  • This is Fernandes' second career Player of the Week honor (10/27/14).

Rookie of the Week
Tre Pulliam, UMBC - Fr., Forward, Baltimore, Md.

  • Earned Rookie of the Week honors after leading UMBC to a 3-2 win over Monmouth Saturday.
  • Scored the Retrievers' first goal of the game and set up the game winner.
