RIO DE JANEIRO - A trio of athletes who competed in track & field in America East and one former swimmer will represent their respective countries in the upcoming 2016 Olympic games in Brazil.
Grace Claxton, Albany
- The Albany senior will compete for her native Puerto Rico and is Albany's first-ever women's track & field Olympian.
- Will compete in the 400-meter hurdles.
- Was the co-recipient of the Coaches' Award for accumulating the most individual points at the America East Outdoor Track & Field Championship in May.
Lucy (Van Dalen) Oliver, Stony Brook '12
- Named to New Zealand’s Olympic team for the second time.
- Will compete in women's 5,000 meters.
- Was a six-time All-American and the 2012 national champion in the indoor mile while at Stony Brook.
- 2012 America East Woman of the Year.
Mohamed Hussein, UMBC '15
- Will swim 200 IM for Egypt beginning on Wednesday, August 10.
- Was a two-time America East Swimmer of the Meet.
Gemma Acheampong, Boston University '15
- Will compete on the 4x100 relay squad for Ghana.
- Ran in the 2012 America East Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
