BOSTON - Both New Hampshire and Vermont went a perfect 2-0-0 as America East women's soccer teams finished the week 7-8-2, making the overall conference record 13-12-7 through two weeks of the season. Here are the week two award winners:
Player of the Week
Mimi Borkan, New Hampshire, Sr., GK, Medfield, Mass.
- Notched a pair of shutouts in a 2-0-0 week as New Hampshire won the TD Bank Classic hosted by the University of Vermont.
- Made six saves in a 1-0 overtime win against Manhattan.
- Stopped four shots in a 3-0 win over Central Connecticut State.
- Earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.
Rookie of the Week
Julia Smith, Vermont, Fr., F, Norcross, Ga.
- Started her Catamount career in style this weekend posting a pair of goals in two Catamount wins.
- On Friday vs. CCSU, she delivered an insurance goal late in the second half for her first collegiate goal.
- In Sunday’s win over Manhattan, Smith tallied the game-winner with just 3:30 left on the clock.
- She led the team in shots taken over the weekend combining for nine over the two games.
Notes
- UMBC's Leah Roth made a career-high 13 saves in a 1-0 win over Liberty on Thursday. Liberty had won back-to-back Big South titles.
- Hartford senior goalkeeper Jessica Jurg moved into second in program history in career shutouts with 25 and fifth in wins with 31.
- Hartford's rookies have accounted for half of the team's six goals this season.
