EUGENE, Ore. - Six America East track & field standouts will head to Eugene, Ore. to compete in the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships starting Wednesday and running through Saturday.
Albany's Matthew Campbell and Grace Claxton, Binghamton's Jesse Garn, UMBC's Vincent Rentzsch and New Hampshire's Laura Rose Donegan and Elinor Purrier will all compete on the nation's biggest stage this week.
Campbell qualified in the men’s high jump with an overall fourth place finish at the NCAA East Preliminary meet after clearing 7’-1.5”. He'll compete on Saturday.
Claxton will compete in the 400-meter hurdles after breaking the school record in the NCAA East Regional meet.
Garn will run in the 800-meter run for the third-straight year. After a fourth-place finish a year ago, Garn seeks his third-straight All-America nod. The preliminaries of the 800 will take place on Wednesday at 9:14 EST on ESPN2 while the finals are onFriday at 9:47 p.m. EST on ESPN.
Rentzsch qualifed for the meet in the javelin and will compete Wednesday after his sixth-place finish in the NCAA East meet.
Rose Donegan and Purrier will each compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second-straight year after earning All-America honors last year. Purrier has the second-best time in the nation entering the meet, whie Donegan's is the sixth-fastest.
The 2016 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Chapionship will air on the ESPN family of networks.
