6 #AEBASE Student-Athletes Selected in MLB Draft

Six America East baseball student-athletes were selected in the 2016 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft June 9-11, increasing the conference's total number of selections over the last six years to 36. 

Albany starting pitcher Stephen Woods was the first America East player to be selected, going in the eighth round to the San Francisco Giants. 

UMBC's Kevin Lachance was the next to go, selected in the 10th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. 

Binghamton's Mike Bunal, the America East Pitcher of the Year, was taken in the 17th round by the Colorado Rockies. UMass Lowell outfielder Ian Strom went in the 22nd round to the Mets. 

Stony Brook had a pair of student-athletes taken including junior outfielder Toby Handley (33rd round by the Astros) and senior pitcher Tyler Honahan (36th round by the Yankees).
