ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany field hockey standout Paula Heuser was named an Academic All-American by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced Thursday. She is the sixth America East student-athlete to earn Academic All-America status this year.
A second-team at-large selection, Heuser holds a 3.83 GPA in Business Administration and is a three-time NFHCA All-American. The junior was named America East Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second time, garnering her third NFHCA Academic Squad spot and being tabbed for the America East All-Academic team.
In addition to her impressive academic performance, Heuser is a three-time NFHCA All-American and two-time member of the First Team. She is the two-time NFHCA Northeast Region Player of the Year, three-time America East Midfielder of the Year and three-time America East All-Conference First Team selection. Heuser is the NCAA active career leader across all three divisions in points (194) and goals (80).
The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
