Hartford senior Kylie Gauthier, junior David Mackinnon and sophomore Erik Ostberg have all been named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 1 Baseball Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday. With the recognition, the trio will all be on the ballot for Academic All-America honors. For MacKinnon, it marked his second straight year collecting Academic All-District honors.

The three Hawks were the only America East players to pick up Academic All-District recognition. Only two other schools in the nation (St. John's and Georgia State) had three players collect Academic All-District selections. Hartford has had only three prior Academic All-District honorees – Simon Kudernatsch in 2012, Pat Knauth in 2013 and MacKinnon last year.

Gauthier, a finance major from Lynn, Mass., holds a 3.72 GPA in his final season with the Hawks. He has been impressive on the mound as well, as he has collected three America East Pitcher of the Week Awards, the most recent this past Tuesday. The senior holds an ERA of 3.05 (eighth in America East) and a batting average against of .241 (ninth). His 59 innings pitched are third in the league, and his 266 career innings are third in Hartford lore. The Lynn, Mass., native is the program's all-time leader in games started with 41.

MacKinnon, an accounting major from Easton, Mass., has put forth a cumulative 3.94 GPA in his three years in the Barney School. He has had a strong junior campaign on the diamond, as the first baseman leads the Hawks and is second in the America East with his .372 batting average on the season. He currently possesses a 17-game hitting streak, and is also in the league's top-10 in slugging percentage (.484, 8th), on-base percentage (.444, 3rd), runs (33, 4th) and doubles (10, 6th).

Ostberg, a communication major from Florence, Mass., holds a 3.34 GPA thus far in his academic career. The designated hitter is having a standout year on the diamond, ranking second on the team and third in the conference in batting average (.362) and first on the team and second in the America East in on-base percentage (.453). He is also among the conference leaders in runs (29, 7th), RBI (31, 5th) and walks (25, 2nd).
